Why You’re Absorbing Everyone’s Energy (And How To Stop)

When you feel like you’re too sensitive, too susceptible to other people’s energy, it’s time to take control of your energy field, your aura.

We’re all meant to have healthy, uplifting exchanges with other people. Yet why is it sometimes we feel drained taking on the energy of others even when that energy is not so good? The truth is no energy can enter your aura unless somewhere you’re permitting it. The goal is to build a more dynamic aura, giving you greater control and enjoyment in your life.

How Auras Interact With Each Other

Everyone on this earth has an auric field. As a matter of fact, every living thing on this earth has an auric field. That means we are living in a sea of spiritual energy. This energy is all around us and we’re interacting with it on a constant level.

When you have a healthy, a happy experience with somebody, there’s a giving out of energy and there’s a receiving energy, and it’s on a beautiful elevating level, which is why we feel so wonderful and excited after such an exchange. But what happens if the person is projecting a not so good energy? They will be, perhaps unintentionally, projecting that energy to you. If you accept that energy into your auric field, you’re going to be affected by it, creating a draining effect rather than a building up effect in the aura.

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t interact with each other, but it does mean if you’re often drained or too susceptible to other people’s energies, it may mean that you need to be more dynamic in how you control the exchange of energy.

Unenlightened Thoughts and Feelings Can Open You Up

This can be a real challenge, because if you’re pursuing your spiritual work and those around you did not have the awakening as you did, you may feel like the odd ball, that maybe you shouldn’t pursue you spiritual aspiration. You recognize the value of the spiritual life, but you’re listening to the voice of others. You have to be true to yourself. Remember, we are first children of the divine. We’re here in this earth to interact, love and support each other, but in the end, we’re accountable and answerable to the Divine for our actions on Earth. If others don’t understand your spiritual life, love them all the more. Show them how much you care about them. If they really loves you, they’ll eventually realize their love for you is more important than if you totally agree with each other. It’s okay to disagree on some things. You can mutually respect each other and still have life-enriching relationships. At the same time, it’s a good idea to build an environment around you that is supportive. Seek out others on a similar spiritual journey, so that there is that sense of fellowship and spiritual community.

Playing the Role of the Victim

Many times, we look at distresses around us and feel and sense of helplessness. What we don’t realize is the more we are putting our attention on distressing things going around us the more we’re inviting that energy into our auric field, and of course will feel drained. Don’t focus on the negative. You need to be aware of the dangers in life, but not draw that power in or blame others for what’s going on. The minute you play the victim, why are you surprised when it, you start to feel like a victim?

False Sympathy

We’ve all had the experience of a loved one coming to us with troubles and we’re the listening ear or the shoulder to cry on. They unburdened themselves and at the end of the exchange, they’re feeling much better but you’re exhausted. What happened in that exchange? This could be happening on a completely unconscious level, but what are they doing? They’re drawing energy from you, and because you have sympathy towards them, you’re permitting that to happen. So what are you doing? You’re permitting them to pull on your own energy field and will inevitably feel drained.

You can truly be the listening ear, but it doesn’t have to come from a place of sympathy. It can come from a place of compassion. With compassion, there is still an exchange of energy, but there isn’t that pulling of energy. You become the channel of Light from the Divine, so they can rise up and solve the problem there is, and whatever you can do to help solve the problem.

The most precious thing you possess is your light. Keep building, a dynamic aura and be strong to refuse energies that you feel are not to your benefit. As your light shines brighter and brighter, you get into that brighter state and then you’re a brighter light for other people.
