Every nation in the world has a destiny — a divine purpose to serve for the great good of society. If civilization as a whole is like the physical body, each country is like an organ in the body. As the United States heads into its national elections, its citizens are called upon not only to exercise their democratic right to vote but to reaffirm the aspirations and ideals that have made America one of the most influential and successful nations in history. How can we, as spiritually-minded people, play our part to help America fulfill the next steps in its divine destiny and in society as a whole?
America continues to play a leading role in the universal plan to establish a world democratic fellowship of all nations dedicated to free thinking, creative expression, and spiritual freedom. This global fellowship is a needed foundation for a new spiritual age that is on the horizon for us all. We are the builders of the next stage of civilization’s collective development. It’s up to us to lay the groundwork so that humanity is ready for a greater age that is our collective destiny.
The keys to making civilization work are cooperation and participation. Peoples and nations must work together for the common good. As we know, democracy isn’t easy. People have differing ideas of how to pursue things. But if we share a common vision, then the job is easier. As Proverbs says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” The Higher has shared that domestic political and global tensions are growing pains of an evolving society. As we stay in alignment with the divine, we will find our way.
What can we, the spiritually-minded, do to play our part in the political process and help facilitate the divine purpose of the United States?
1. Get Involved
According to a 2023 Pew report, only 37% of those eligible voted in all three of the most recent American elections. Voting is a hard-earned freedom. Be civic and community-minded.
2. Be Objectively Educated
3. Develop Yourself Spiritually
We will never bring disgrace on this our City by an act of dishonesty or cowardice.
We will fight for the ideals and Sacred Things of the City both alone and with many.
We will revere and obey the City’s laws, and will do our best to incite a like reverence and respect in those above us who are prone to annul them or set them at naught.
We will strive unceasingly to quicken the public’s sense of civic duty.
Thus, in all these ways, we will transmit this City not only not less, but greater and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.
